The 7th of May 2026 will forever be etched into the stones of theOn this day, the Touraine region vibrated with the excitement of an exceptional State visit: that of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Arriving to officialise the inclusion of the commune and its château into the prestigious network of « Sites historiques Grimaldi », the Sovereign walked in the footsteps of his ancestor, Imbert de Batarnay.
Here is a look behind the scenes of a historic day where medieval heritage blended
A six-century-old secret bond between Monaco and Touraine

Seeing the Monégasque flag flying atop the keep of the Château de Bridoré might come as a surprise. Yet, this visit owed absolutely nothing to the randomness of protocol. It is the culmination of a fascinating family and political history dating back to the 15th century.
At that time, the Château de Bridoré was the property of Imbert de Batarnay. While his name might be less familiar to the general public, the man was an essential cog in the Kingdom of France. A fiercely influential, behind-the-scenes advisor, he navigated eras and survived court intrigues where so many others fell. A close confidant of Louis XI, he remained an indispensable figure under Charles VIII, Louis XII, and right up to the beginning of the reign of Francis I of France.
Did you know? Imbert de Batarnay preferred to observe rather than speak, and to act at the perfect moment rather than too soon. It is the blood of this visionary statesman that flows today in the veins of the Princely Family of Monaco. Prince Albert II is his direct descendant.

The inclusion of the Château de Bridoré into the "Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco"
By unveiling the commemorative plaque on the 7th of May, Prince Albert II did not just honour his ancestors: he officially enrolled the Château de Bridoré and its village into the global network of Grimaldi Historic Sites.

This international recognition brings a unique dimension to the preservation of local heritage. It serves as a reminder that the Châteaux of the Loire Valley are not merely frozen museums or relics of the past.
They are living places of transmission, capable of linking the present with the future, territories with lineages.
"It is a great honour to welcome the Prince of Monaco. This meeting symbolises the link between Tours’ medieval heritage and the House of Grimaldi." — Pierre-Alexandre Mouveau, owner of the Château de Bridoré
Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: Making the Château’s stones s
While the Château de Bridoré is a jewel of medieval military architecture (famous for its keep, its faussebraye, and its caponiers), the castle is also resolutely focused on the future. Indeed, it was this blend of history and modernity that set the tone for the discussions with the Sovereign Prince.
Today, the monument uses the most advanced technologies to offer visitors a brand-new immersive experience:
An AI-powered Knight: An interactive virtual guide capable of conversing with the public in real time.
Augmented Reality: An ambitious project to bring Imbert de Batarnay back to life right before visitors' eyes.
Drone Photogrammetry: Spectacular 3D modelling to visualise the architectural evolution of the castle from the 14th century to the present day.
AI-enhanced Films and Music: Original creations, including the very first song dedicated to a Loire Valley château generated entirely by artificial intelligence.
Proof has been delivered that technological innovation is the greatest ally of heritage preservation.

Behind the scenes: What was in the Prince’s gift bag?
This is the question on everyone’s lips since the end of the official visit! After receiving a magnificent lithograph related to Monégasque history from the hands of the Prince, Pierre-Alexandre Mouveau, the current owner of the Château, presented him with a very special "Château de Bridoré" tote bag.
Inside the bag was a clever mix of local souvenirs and a nod to the future:
For the Princely Children (Jacques and Gabriella): Exclusive caps, mugs, pins, and stickers in the Château’s colours (produced by the French company Avenir Communication).
For Prince Albert II: A signed copy of the book "Vendeur 5.0 - Maîtriser les clés de l'excellence à l'ère de l'I.A" ("Seller 5.0 - Mastering the Keys to Excellence in the Age of AI"), written by Pierre-Alexandre Mouveau.
Seeing merchandise from a Touraine château and a book on AI fly off to the Palace of Monaco is wonderful proof that history certainly knows how to deliver a delightful twist.
