The big construction site
Its massive military architecture allowed the Bridore Castle to cross the ages. Still, the enclosure needed a few restoration work in 2021.
The restoration was concentrated on two projects :
-
one of four caponiers which was damaged by water infiltration, vegetation...
-
The counterscarp wall 15 meters high (cut stone capping) also showed signs of fragility.
The cost of the works was financed at 60% by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, speak Departmental Council(up to 10%) and the current owners of the Castle (at 22.5%) and finally by several private investors gathered around a transaction of crowd funding launched on the site dartagnans.fr.
During the works
The works began in April 2021 and took place over 7 months until end of October 2021.
The Bridore Castle welcomed its first visitors during the works, who were able to contemplate the progress of the restoration in real time.
